LA SALLE — A 14-year-old boy from North Valley Middle School was in the juvenile detention center Wednesday, the Greeley Tribune reported, facing charges of menacing and second-degree assault after he allegedly poisoned some gum and gave it to other students.

The boy, who is an eighth-grader at the La Salle school, is accused of using home-cleaning chemicals from his house to “poison” some gum he then passed out to students at the school. Because he is a juvenile, his name was not released.

La Salle Police Chief Carl Harvey told the Tribune the boy was apparently angry at some students or at the school itself when he started talking about “sending some people to the hospital.”
