A 17-year-old Fort Collins resident died Saturday afternoon after collapsing during a rugby game in Timnath.
The Poudre Fire Authority responded to a call from a field at 2221 S. County Road One in Timnath about 1:30 p.m., said Captain Patrick Love.
The victim, Matthew Hammerdorfer, was described as having a seizure, unconscious and not breathing, he said.
Hammerdorfer was airlifted to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, where he died at 4:34 p.m., said Larimer County deputy coroner Kari Jones. An autopsy will be performed today by Larimer County medical examiner James Wilkerson IV.
