Library visits, circulation and program attendance all spiked in Colorado by at least 6 percent in Colorado communities during the recession, according to a report by the Library Research Service.
From 2006-07, just prior to the recession, library use remained relatively flat. But from 2007-09, libraries serving communities of 25,000 or more increased per capita visits by at least 11 percent.
Activity in resort communities jumped anywhere from 6 to 28 percent. Communities under 25,000 weren’t included in the study.
