LIMON — Services are scheduled Tuesday for a Limon police officer who was shot and killed while trying to serve a Tennessee arrest warrant on a suspect.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jay Sheridan was killed Wednesday in Limon.
The suspect, 52-year-old Dennis Mark Hasty, was later found dead after a four-hour standoff. Authorities say he apparently shot himself. He was wanted on a sex-offender-registry violation.
Sheridan’s funeral will be at the Limon High School gymnasium at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside service.
Chief Lynn Yowell says Sheridan is the first Limon officer killed in the line of duty. Authorities say a woman inside the trailer home where Hasty was found dead has been arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to a felony. She was identified as 50-year-old Jackie Hasty.
