MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. — Police say an officer died Saturday at a hospital after being wounded in a shooting in a suburb east of New York City.
Nassau County police Officer Maureen Roach said the officer died at Nassau University Medical Center on Saturday night.
Roach said the officer had been wounded while responding to an incident in Massapequa, nearly 40 miles east of Manhattan.
She had no immediate details on how the officer died. The officer was not identified.
