Colorado companies and organizations are well-represented at the annual South by Southwest music, film and technology festival in Austin, Texas.
Attendees include representatives from the Colorado Office of Film Television & Media, technology firms, and public relations and advertising agencies. Some plan to use the event to test products, while others are hoping to glean information from the conference’s bevy of tech-savvy minds.
“We want to have our finger on ‘what’s next’ and be able to utilize that technology for the benefit of our clients and our firm,” said John Hall, an account manager with Centennial-based Webb PR.
South by Southwest, or SXSW, in 2007 was a tipping point of sorts for social media giant Twitter, then a relatively unknown startup.
The interactive portion of the event, SXSWi, started Friday and runs through Tuesday.
Paula Berg, digital media leader for Denver-based Linhart PR, is scheduled to host a panel today titled, “The Legal Ramifications of Saying I’m Sorry,” which will address how organizations handle customer relations in the digital age.
John McRee, lead experience architect for Denver-based EffectiveUI, was slated Saturday to present on the topic “Your Mom has an iPad: Designing for Boomers.”
EffectiveUI designs and develops custom applications for the Web, desktop, mobile and touch-enabled devices.
Other local attendees include:
• The Integer Group, a Lakewood-based advertising agency that has 11 employees from its digital and creative teams at the event.
• BlueModus, a Denver-based IT services firm.
• Location3 Media, a Denver-based digital-marketing agency.
• Cactus, a Denver-based interactive-ad agency.
• ID345, a Denver-base software- development company that is testing a service that turns a smartphone into an interactive name badge at the conference.
