Getting your player ready...

If sign-toting, hate-spewing Mountain West student sections only knew about Jimmer Fredette’s past, they probably wouldn’t have bothered trying to intimidate BYU’s All-American.

In spring 2007, after Fredette’s senior high school season, he joined his older brother on a civilian team that played games against inmates at the Mount McGregor Correctional Facility in Wilton, N.Y.

At first, he endured taunts and catcalls from inmates.

“It was intimidating for sure,” Fredette told Yahoo Sports. “They packed the bleachers, they were rowdy and they said whatever they wanted to you.”

But soon enough, as Fredette was scoring 30 or more points every game, Jimmermania took over the prison.

Now, if BYU is on TV, the inmates are watching. Expect all eyes on Denver when the Cougars face Wofford on Thursday.
