It’s official. Suzanne Pinto is now the oldest woman to row across an ocean.

Pinto, 58, completed her trans-Atlantic journey early today. The Longmont woman was part of the 14-member crew of the Britannia III, which set off from the Canary Islands on Jan. 31, bound for Barbados.

The crew had been trying for a trans-Atlantic speed record, but lost 10 days of time due to cross-currents.

The record Pinto broke had stood for more than a decade. It had been set by 55-year-old Diana Hoff in a 1999-2000 Atlantic crossing.
