MIAMI — Miami-Dade County residents have voted to remove Mayor Carlos Alvarez after mounting frustration over a property tax rate increase and salary raises for many county employees. Eighty- eight percent voted to oust the mayor, making Miami- Dade the most populous area, with more than 2.5 million people, to recall a local official.
