A new leader has been selected to replace Antonio Esquibel at Lincoln High School after he moves into his new job as executive director of turnaround schools for Denver Public Schools this summer.
Ed Salem, who has been principal at North High School for three years, will take over the reins at Lincoln.
The news was announced to the school communities this week.
Salem worked under Esquibel as assistant principal at Lincoln before becoming principal at North.
Esquibel leaves Lincoln after five years. In the new job will be in charge of a portion of low-performing and turnaround schools in the northwest and southwest regions of Denver, including Lincoln High.
North High is one of six Denver high schools that will have a new principal starting in the fall, including South High, Manual High and MLK Jr. Early College.
At West High School, a new leader will also be hired, but only for a one year duration, while Denver Public Schools comes to a decision on how to restructure the low-performing school.
