LOUISVILLE — The hotel district on Coal Creek Circle is the only place in town a new medical marijuana center can operate, according to regulations approved by the City Council on Tuesday night.

The ordinance, which passed unanimously, includes a 1,320-foot buffer from schools, public playgrounds, outdoor pools, outdoor education facilities serving children, alcohol or drug treatment facilities and residential child-care facilities. Centers also must remain in commercial business-zoned areas in a building no larger than 1,800 square feet.
