A man whose body was discovered Tuesday afternoon on a steep, rocky slope near Helen Hunt Falls likely died in a fall, Colorado Springs police said.

The man, believed to be 45 to 50 years old, didn’t have any injuries that would suggest foul play, said police Sgt. Tim Hogan. The coroner will determine the cause of death.

Two hikers found the body at 4:30 p.m. on a slope about 300 feet above a trail that leads to the Silver Cascade Falls, and about a half mile from the Helen Hunt Falls parking lot, said Capt. Pat Rogacki of the Colorado Springs Fire Department.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office arrived about 7:30 p.m. to recover the body, which was carried down by Colorado Springs firefighters a few hours after he was found.
