DENVER—Colorado lawmakers hope the sluggish Capitol dome fundraiser gets a boost from a Denver television station that has agreed to promote it.
KUSA-TV has agreed to donate $500,000 worth of advertising over the next two years to the “Share In The Care” campaign.
Officials say Colorado has raised just a fraction of the $4 million needed by June to complete repairs to the 19th-century cast-iron dome. If the goal isn’t reached, the dome will still be repaired, but more will have to be drawn from the State Historical Fund.
Rep. Jim Riesberg of Greeley said fundraisers are trying to line up more stations. A text-message fundraiser launched two months ago hasn’t raised as much as organizers hoped, though Riesberg didn’t give an exact figure.
