A fire that broke out this morning at Pasquini’s Pizzeria , located at 1336 E. 17th Avenue in Denver, damaged a staircase and some other property behind the building but did little damage inside the restaurant.
The restaurant had not yet opened and nobody was injured in the blaze, said Steve Maddock, Denver Fire assistant chief.
A passerby reported the blaze, said Justin Trinchard, 30, Pasquini’s general manager.
Flamable materials were stored under the outside staircase, said John Afshar, assistant chief. “We don’t allow them to be stored by stairs but I don’t know that that had an impact on the fire,” he said.
It took about 10 minutes to bring the fire under control, said Maddock.
