A loose dog in the roadway led to a rollover accident on the Diagonal Highway at Airport Road this morning that sent three people to the hospital with minor injuries and left the Longmont-bound lanes closed for an hour.
According to Colorado State Patrol spokeswoman Heather Cobler, the driver of a Honda CRV stopped in the right lane of northbound Colo. 119 in an attempt to retrieve a dog seen walking in the roadway. A Dodge Ram pickup truck struck the Honda, causing the CRV to roll onto its side, Cobler said.
Although police initially characterized the wreck as a three-car accident over the air, only two cars were involved.
