University of Northern Colorado men’s basketball coach B.J. Hill has been nominated for two national awards, the school announced Thursday.
Hill is one of 16 finalists for both the Hugh Durham coach of the year award, named after the former Florida State and Georgia coach, and the Skip Prosser man of the year award. The Durham award is for the nation’s top midmajor coach. Skip Prosser was the coach at Wake Forest when he died in 2007. The award honoring him recognizes coaches who not only achieve success on the basketball court but also display moral integrity off it.
Hill, in his rookie season, led the Bears to the most wins in school history and their first Big Sky regular- season and tournament titles and first NCAA Tournament appearance.
The winners of both awards will be announced April 1, during the annual banquet in Houston, also the site of the NCAA Final Four.
