Highlights from the Colorado Legislature on Wednesday:
— The Republican House gave preliminary approval to a bill rolling back some payday lending requirements approved by the Democratic-controlled Legislature last year (House Bill 1290).
— Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia, former president of Colorado State-Pueblo, briefed House and Senate education committees on funding problems facing Colorado’s 28 public institutions of higher education.
— Gov. John Hickenlooper signed into law a bill that requires utility regulators to publicize rules regarding information that must be provided by investor-owned utilities to electric generation facility owners (House Bill 1262).
— The Senate agreed to a conference committee report on requiring 30 minutes a day of physical activity in elementary schools (House Bill 1069). The measure awaits one more House vote before it goes to the governor.
—The House gave final approval to a bill allowing law enforcement vehicles to have dark window tints. House Bill 1251 now heads to the Senate.
— The House Agriculture Committee delayed a decision on a bill changing the makeup of the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (House Bill 1223).
