“I can’t eat five or six hours before, so I drink a lot of protein shakes within an hour of the game,” says Roy Halladay. Use a really ripe banana to naturally sweeten the shake. Dissolving the cocoa powder in the boiling water intensifies the chocolate flavor. From “Diamond Dishes,” makes 1 serving.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon boiling water
  • 2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 very ripe banana, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 large scoop (about 1/2 cup) frozen vanilla yogurt or ice cream
  • 3 tablespoons crunchy peanut butter

Directions

Mix the boiling water and cocoa together in a cup until smooth. Pour into a blender. Add milk, banana, yogurt and peanut butter. Blend, stopping to scrape down the sides and adding more milk as needed to reach the desired thickness, until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and serve immediately.
