Not everyone’s thrilled about the new half-man, half-horse Preakness Stakes mascot that sports a nipple ring and a beer gut. The mascot called “Kegasus,” introduced Tuesday, urges those coming to infield at Pimlico Race Course to be legendary, a reference to the infield’s reputation for hard partying. Maryland delegate Pat McDonough said he is disgusted with the campaign, but Maryland Jockey Club president Tom Chuckas said organizers want young people to come to the infield and party and Kegasus speaks their language. The May 21 Preakness is the second leg of racing’s Triple Crown.
