The Greeley police officer arrested last week on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman during a traffic stop may have concocted the stop for an ulterior motive, according to an arrest affidavit.
Police say Daniel Shepherd, 28, did not report his March 13 traffic stop of the 19-year-old woman, but police confirmed through a global positioning system that his car was stopped for five minutes where the woman said she was pulled over, according to the affidavit.
The woman said she was ordered out of her car, then inappropriately touched while the officer held her hands behind her back, the affidavit stated. She said when he was done, she sat back down in her car and he asked her, ‘What should we do about this?’ the affidavit stated.
“(She) felt he was asking for some type of sexual favor to let her go,” the affidavit stated. “(The woman) said she felt trapped during the pat down and felt if she would not have quickly grabbed her phone and called her sister, it would have gotten worse. She felt the officer could have raped her “
