A body was found early this morning near the Cherry Creek path, amid cold, wet weather.
The body, which appeared to be that of a man, was dressed in camouflage pants, sneakers and a light sweater or jacket. He was found face up near Speer Boulevard and Arapahoe Street, just off the bike path at the foot of an access ramp from Speer Boulevard shortly before 7 a.m.
Temperatures in Denver dropped below freezing overnight.
Police on scene would not comment, but had taped off a section of the bike path.
Three homeless men who said they spent the night under a bridge near where the body was found talked to police this morning, but said they did not know the man.
In an overhang near the body, clothing and other items were found tucked among bushes and small trees.
The bike path cuts between the Auraria Campus and downtown Denver.
The man’s name and cause of death were not immediately known.
