The Cherry Creek Dam Crest road will be closed May 9-30 for construction of groundwater observation wells.
The wells will be built on the downstream slope of Cherry Creek Dam and along the south side of Kennedy Golf Course next to Interstate 225.
“The new (wells) will allow us to collect subsurface data in support of ongoing dam safety studies,” Fred Rios, operations project manager of the Tri-Lakes Project Office, said in a written statement. “They also will enhance our monitoring capabilities during normal operation of Cherry Creek Dam.”
Drilling and well installation will begin in early May and continue through June.
Motorists who use that road should look for alternate routes.
