FORT COLLINS, Colo.—The chairman of Level 3 Communications Inc. and his wife have pledged $10 million to Colorado State University.
The donation by Walter Scott Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, will go toward the $69 million, 122,000-square-foot Engineering II building, which will house interdisciplinary energy, environment and health programs.
Scott graduated from CSU and has a scholarship endowment there named for him.
The Gates Family Foundation has committed $1 million to the project, and CSU alumni Don and Susie Law of Denver have given $500,000 in initial funding for architectural design.
CSU says students also voted to raise their fees to raise $30 million for construction of the building.
