The Jefferson County bomb squad disabled a pipe bomb found near a Golden home this morning, blowing it up under controlled circumstances, said Golden police spokesman Sgt. Ryan Custer.
Golden police requested the bomb squad after someone reported finding a suspicious object outside 503 15th St. at about 10:10 a.m.
Investigators are now collecting evidence and examinging the explosive, Custer said.
A reverse 911 notification call went out to neighbors, who were warned to stay indoors and police set up a perimeter in the neighborhood to keep cars and people away from the object.
After the device was safely detonated the perimeter was lifted and residents were told they could leave their homes.
