A 34 year-old man is dead after he lost control of his car and it jumped a median and plowed head-on into a Ford F-150 pickup truck in Lakewood.
Esequiel Arriaga-Ruiz was driving a Dodge Charger when he collided with the truck on South Sheridan Boulevard south of West Mississippi Avenue at 2:45 this morning, according to Lakewood police spokesman Ty Countryman.
Prior to the crash, Arriaga-Ruiz was speeding as he changed lanes and lost control of the vehicle. The Charger crossed over the painted median area and careened into the southbound traffic lanes where he hit the pickup.
He was pronounced dead after paramedics transported him to a hospital.
The two occupants of the truck were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Toxicology reports to determine whether alcohol was involved are pending.
