George Washington power forward Tyrone Marshall will play his college basketball at Wyoming.

Marshall signed a letter of intent today, becoming the first in Wyoming’s 2011 recruiting class.

“We were extremely impressed with Tyrone on the court, and we were even more impressed with his values and his enthusiasm for helping us begin our new era here at Wyoming,” said new coach Larry Shyatt said in a statement. “When we had the opportunity to meet his family and his high school coach (Michael Rogers), it was easy to see why Tyrone is such an outstanding young man.”

The 6-foot-8 Marshall weighs 220 pounds.

“Tyrone has tomorrow written all over him in terms of his future basketball potential,” Shyatt said. “He is going to be a very versatile forward in the future. He has a large frame and may not yet be done growing.”

Marshall averaged 15 points, nine rebounds and six blocks last season. He was an honorable mention pick on The Post’s All-5A team.
