After making his major-league debut Sunday in the Rockies series-deciding 9-5 victory over the Cubs at Coors Field, Alan Johnson will return to Triple-A Colorado Springs, the team said.
The 27-year-old Johnson was optioned back to the minors. He allowed four earned runs in four innings Sunday.
In his place, the Rockies called up right-handed reliever Clayton Mortensen from the Sky Sox. Mortensen will be available for Monday night’s game against San Francisco in Denver.
Mortensen, 25, made his major-league debut for Oakland last season and has yet to pitch for the Rockies. In two starts for Colorado Springs, he is 0-1 with 24.75 ERA.
