Organizers of the Leadville 100 mountain bike race have announced a series of qualifying races across the country. The top 100 in each qualifier will get an automatic spot in the Leadville 100, which is Aug. 13.

The spots will be allocated partially on the basis of age-group performance and partly by lottery among finishers.

The qualifiers include a July 31 race in Crested Butte. The others are June 19 in Wilmington, N.Y., and July 10 in Lake Tahoe, Nev. All qualifiers will be approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles). The Leadville race is 100 miles.
