$7.98 per six-pack

A search for hops for Easter turned up this India pale ale from the highly respected Boulevard Brewing, which has been turning out quality craft beers since 1989. A toned-down version of the brewer’s Double-Wide I.P.A., Single- Wide is a hazy but transparent golden pour with a creamy white head. Its aroma is hoppy, of course, but it’s more subtle than many American versions of this classic style that began in 18th-century Britain. A bit of sweet malt is also evident in the nose, owing to the five malts that balance the six hops used in the recipe. The flavor likewise is nicely balanced, leaning toward the hop side but not overpowering like a West Coast IPA; it reminds of Left Hand’s well-crafted 400 Pound Monkey. Citrus, especially grapefruit and lemon, is evident, with a mellow maltiness and lingering bitterness on the finish. This is a pleasant session brew at 5.7 percent alcohol by volume, with easy drinkability and a medium body. Boulevard Brewing Co., Kansas City, Mo.;
