Getting your player ready...

Trout snobs can laugh all they want about fishing for carp on the fly. But more often than not, it’s the fickle and wary fish that will be laughing at your attempts to trick it into eating your offering. Unless your name is Barry Reynolds, that is. Reynolds, an International Game Fish Association world record-holder and author of five fishing books, pulls back the curtain shrouding “the last great frontier of opportunity for freshwater fly-fishers” in his 98-minute instructional DVD, “The Fly Rodder’s Guide to Carp” (MSRP: $30). The video covers the tackle and techniques necessary to overcome the challenge of landing these crafty, immensely strong fish that can weigh over 50 pounds. The Denver local gets gritty in his follow-up DVD, “Urban Warfare: In Pursuit of the Poor Man’s Bonefish,” (MSRP: $30) shot on Denver’s inner-city waterways.
