Tina Fey is one funny lady — as the former head writer and cast member of “Saturday Night Live,” the creator/producer/star of “30 Rock” and, most recently, author of the runaway best seller “Bossypants.”
But did you know she lives in Denver with her pet ferret?
Yup, the news is right there on the back flyleaf of “Bossypants”: “Tina Fey lives in Denver with her ferret, Jacoby.”
Not really. Fey signs her introduction to the book from New York City, where she actually lives. Also, she tells us that she studied what needs to be in a best-selling book: “It turns out the answer is ‘one-night stands,’ drug addictions and recipes.”
Reagan Arthur Books is the publisher, and the assistant director of publicity, Marlena Bittner, says the Denver mention is just a joke. And the book’s cover is very jokey, with fake blurbs and Fey pictured with a man’s hands and arms. It’s downright creepy.
“She definitely does not have a ferret,” says Bittner. “And everybody knows she lives in New York City. She just chose another city because she didn’t want to write a real bio.”
But should we take the Denver mention as some kind of diss? Like Fey writing that she lives in Podunk Hollow?
“Oh, no,” says Bittner. “We never thought of it as a real city. We just thought it was funny.”

Want to go to Aspen for a fancy weekend in the offseason? Too bad, dude. News comes from the Gulch that the three luxe-life hotels there — the Little Nell, St. Regis and Hotel Jerome — are closed for the offseason. The Nell and St. Regis are already dark; Hotel Jerome closes Sunday. The Jerome and the Nell reopen in mid-May, but St. Regis is undergoing big-time renovations and won’t open until the Aspen Food & Wine Classic, skedded for June 17-19.

The new Cherry Creek Theatre Company had a good debut run with “Love Letters” performed by some bold-name couples in town — Janet Elway and Kevin Kretzmar; Hazel Miller and Reggie Rivers; and Lannie Garrett and Kirk Montgomery. The company performed the little play in Shaver-Ramsey Rug Gallery — and since there is still not a real theater for the group, that’s where it’ll return for weekend presentations of “Side by Side by Sondheim” from April 29 through May 22.
City spirit.
Colorado Expression publisher Terry Vitale was surprised recently with a special bio-based, 30-minute Curious Theatre production about her life and times. Sandy Tannenbaum arranged it, and Vitale’s brother, hoops commentator Dick Vitale, flew in for the party/play . . . New bars are opening here and there, but I’m excited about the Four Seasons’ Level 3 poolside bar opening May 12 — to the public Thursday nights only and to hotels guests nightly . . . 5280 magazine food editor Amanda Faison gave birth to a baby girl; and executive editor Maximillian Potter has a story in this month’s Vanity Fair . . . Sez who: “I like to crack the jokes now and again, but it’s only because I struggle with math.” Tina Fey
