The Meyer Ranch fire in Jefferson County was completely contained a little after 8 p.m. Friday, officials said.

The fire started Thursday afternoon east of Conifer and consumed about 40 acres. As a precaution, about 80 homes were evacuated Thursday, but all residents were allowed home Friday afternoon.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the fire was one of several started along U.S. 285 in the area of Meyer Ranch, Parmalee Gulch and Richmond Hill.

Investigators are seeking any information about people or vehicles seen in the area when the fires started. Police say there have been several fires with suspicious origins in the past month.

Anyone with information is asked to call the tip line at 303-271-5612.
