COLORADO SPRINGS — A fleeing suspect was arrested Wednesday after dashing through Madison Elementary School in central Colorado Springs, prompting the school to go on emergency lockdown.
Zachery Patterson, 27, was among three men police chased about noon after someone called 911 to report that burglars appeared to be skulking outside a neighborhood house, Colorado Springs police said.
Danielle Burke, 33, eluded officers and is still being sought, while the third man was questioned and released without charges, said Colorado Springs police spokesman Sgt. Steve Noblitt.
The foot chase sent police officers — and worried parents — flocking to the elementary school at 4120 Constitution Ave.
According to Noblitt, Patterson ran through the school and was arrested after exiting.
