Getting your player ready...
A tie here as the Lions gave a textbook lesson in “best player available” draft strategy, snagging Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley to line up next to Ndamukong Suh. The Lions already had what is likely the best defensive line in the league, but saw Fairley get lost in the quarterback swirl. They took a highly rated player at an impact position in their defense. And running backs in the NFC North will be worse for wear because of it. The Saints then wheeled their way back into the first round to grab Alabama running back Mark Ingram, who had inexplicably fallen to the 28th spot. The 2009 Heisman winner was the best back on the board and the fourth Alabama player taken in the first round. Jeff Legwold, The Denver Post
