BROOMFIELD — Vail Resorts Inc. says skier visits at its six resorts are up from last season.
The Broomfield-based company owns Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone resorts in Colorado and Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe in the Lake Tahoe area. It acquired Northstar in October.
The company said today that skier visits this winter were up 3.9 percent from last season, if the numbers are adjusted as if it had owned Northstar last season as well. Ski school revenue was up 8.4 percent, dining revenue was up 9 percent, and retail and rental revenue was up 8.3 percent.
CEO Rob Katz says he’s pleased with the results, given Easter came late this year. The ski industry tends to do better when Easter is earlier and falls during many students’ spring breaks.
