Perhaps it’s a good thing that former University of Colorado cornerback Jalil Brown is originally from Phoenix and did not grow up as a Broncos fan.
Today, Brown was selected in the fourth round by Kansas City, the Broncos’ rival in the AFC West. The Chiefs made Brown the No. 118 overall selection. He became the first defensive back chosen by Kansas City.
In the Colorado secondary, the 6-foot, 202-pound Brown played in the shadow of cornerback Jimmy Smith, who was selected in the first round by Baltimore. But Brown intercepted more passes (six) during his CU career than did Smith (three).
Brown became the third draftee with ties to the state of Colorado, joining first-rounders Nate Solder (offensive tackle to New England in round one) and Smith.
