AIR FORCE ACADEMY — An Air Force officer from Washington state who was one of nine Americans shot and killed by an Afghan military pilot will be buried at the Air Force Academy.

Maj. Philip Ambard, 44, taught French and Spanish at the school.

Officials say services for him will be Thursday at the Cadet Protestant Chapel. Burial will follow at the Academy Cemetery.

Ambard, of Edmonds, Wash., was killed April 27 at the Kabul airport. The Defense Department says eight U.S. service personnel and an American civilian contractor were killed when the Afghan pilot opened fire. Denver Post staff and wire reports
