Chris Herndon led Chris Martinez in a tight race to represent District 11 on the Denver City Council.
Herndon led in early returns Tuesday night with 52.81 percent of the vote. Martinez was close behind with more than 46.46 percent.
“There is still a lot of time left in the night,” Herndon said. “Anything can happen, and now we just wait and see.”
Council aide Martinez and Walmart store manager Herndon are competing to replace Michael Hancock, who left to run for mayor.
