A Boulder District judge on Tuesday sentenced a prolific serial burglar to 32 years in prison for 16 felony theft and burglary counts spanning six cases.
Boulder District Judge Gwyneth Whalen told 47-year-old Nicholas Dorrance of Thornton that he deserved the maximum possible penalty under a plea deal that he accepted with prosecutors. That deal spared him trials on six cases and dozens of felony burglary and theft charges out of Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette, Erie, Louisville and Boulder County.
“The court was struck that there were at least 60 burglaries charged,” Whalen said. “The harm to the victims has been immeasurable.”
