CANON CITY, Colo.—Officials say a southern Colorado wildfire caused by lightning has been 85 percent contained as crews continue to close the line around it.

The U.S. Forest Service said Wednesday the blaze burning on national forest land near Wetmore, south of Canon City has burned 495 acres. Officials had been reporting a higher number but reduced the figure after more accurate mapping was done Tuesday.

Officials say warm weather and winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour is expected to melt the snow cover that gave firefighters some relief during the weekend. They say residents should be mindful of heavy traffic in the area.
