Heavy rains have caused closures in two different spots along U.S. 285.

The left lane of eastbound U.S. 285 between Kipling and Estes streets is closed because of temporary drainage problems that caused standing water and several potholes.

Crews cannot fix the problem until the weather improves, so the lane will remain closed through Thursday morning.

Standing water has also closed the the right lane of eastbound U.S. 285 near Federal Boulevard. Crews are pumping out water and hope to have the lane open by tomorrow morning. If rains continue, the lane may be closed tomorrow morning.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says the drainage problems are due to construction in the area and should be temporary. In the meantime, they are advising drivers to take alternate routes.
