HaHo, HaHo, it’s off to market we go

The Denver Handmade Homemade Market, happening from 4 to 8 p.m. today, is co-hosted by Grow Local Colorado (growlocalcolorado ), a nonprofit that promotes the local food movement and shares the goal of market organizers to support community and grassroots businesses. The event showcases about three dozen area artisans who produce food, crafts and more. Organizers tout it like this: “Think a farmers market but on Saturday evenings, with music and drinks!” Green Spaces Colorado, 1368 26th St. (between Larimer and Walnut streets) in the RiNo Arts District. “Put your loot in your boot”

In England, “boot” means the truck of a car, and a Boot Sale is one in which vendors unload second- hand finds from the back of their cars. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 21, the Jefferson Country Fairgrounds will host the first of three upcoming British Boot Sales, where anyone can show up, pay a fee, and then sell off some stuff. (A special call has gone out to antiques dealers, collectors, artisans, designers, entrepreneurs, liquidators, hobbyists and crafters.) The cost to sell will be $20; reservations are unnecessary. Anyone still on a Royal Wedding kick may also enjoy the lifesize cutout of Prince William and Princess Kate on site for shoppers to take pictures with. Admission is $3. Details at . Jefferson Country Fairgrounds are located at 15200 W. Sixth Ave., Golden.

• Have ducts and vents cleaned by a duct-cleaning company with specialized equipment.

• Outside, inspect siding and trim, and look for paint that is lifting or peeling.

• Look at the roof for loose or damaged shingles, and contact a roofing contractor for repairs.

• Freshly mulch around shrubs and flowerbeds.

• Remove debris from gutters. • Ensure that downspouts are directing water away from the foundation.

• Remove storm windows or doors, and replace with clean screens. Clean storm windows thoroughly before storing.

• Power wash, sand and reseal the deck before it is exposed to the heat. Replace splintered or worn deck boards.
