
Eagle County investigators are trying to determine how a 38-year-old Aurora man died and what he was doing in Eagle County.
Christopher Don Hodenpel’s partially decomposed body was found Friday afternoon near an irrigation ditch along Lake Creek Road about a mile south of U.S. 6 near Edwards.
An autopsy yielded no signs of trauma to his body, and authorities are waiting on toxicology results, according to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Department.
His body was discovered after workers maintaining the irrigation ditch found a backpack that contained Hodenpel’s belongings, including some cash, according to a media release from the Sheriff’s Department.
As deputies looked around, they found Hodenpel’s body among some trees, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
