DURANGO, Colo.—Students at Durango High School are going back to class Friday after cleanup crews removed 30 bales of hay that were spread by student pranksters.
The Durango Herald says air-quality tests taken Thursday showed mold spore counts inside the building are within the recommended limits.
Cleaning crews washed walls, changed air filters and used air scrubbers after piles of hay were found Monday in the school’s common areas. The cleaning expenses are expected to top $100,000.
Air-quality readings taken Monday showed mold spore counts were four times higher than the recommended limits.
The school has been closed since Monday because of air-quality concerns. At least eight district employees have sought medical attention for respiratory problems.
