COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A suspected burglar is in the hospital after a Colorado Springs homeowner hit him with a baseball bat..

Police were called to the home about 3 a.m. Friday on a report of burglary in progress and officers were told that the homeowner was fighting with an intruder inside the residence.

The Denver Post says the intruder was armed with a gun and had attempted to shoot the homeowner but the weapon misfired. The homeowner disarmed the intruder after striking him with a baseball bat.

The injured intruder was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a head injury. Further details on his condition were not available.

The homeowner was not injured.
