Top-ranked Lee Westwood has threatened to close his Twitter account because of the abuse directed at him and fellow golfers. “It’s social media, not social slagging,” Westwood said. “It seems to have turned into that for some people.” Ian Poulter has been the target of heavy criticism on Twitter, and Paul Lawrie has closed his account.
