Parents of Mountain Vista High School students say poor planning by administrators led to a miserable graduation ceremony last week.

“We had no contingency but we had two days of warning that the weather was coming,” Rick Owens, a parent, said. “It seems like we should have been able to go inside somewhere and have the kids go through the ceremony that they had worked four years, really hard for.”

Douglas County School District Spokesman Randy Barber said students and their families were never in any danger, despite thunder storms in the area.

“We are sorry,” Barber said. “We certainly feel badly that the students and families had to endure the very wet weather.”
