Drivers should expect delays and traffic stops this week in the mountains west of Denver.

The Colorado Department of Transportation plans to stop traffic on U.S. 40 near Berthoud Pass today to allow crews to remove rocks caught in rock fences.

Beginning at 8 a.m., 20-minute stops will take place on the west side of Berthoud Pass through early afternoon. Eastbound traffic will be stopped about 3 miles east of Winter Park, and westbound traffic will be stopped about 5 miles west of the pass summit.

Rockfall mitigation on Interstate 70 in Georgetown today through Thursday will close one westbound lane at Georgetown Hill. One eastbound lane will be open from Twin Tunnels to U.S. 6 between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. those days. Denver Post staff and wire reports
