The seven-year Colorado Springs Police veteran Joshua Dwayne Carrier appeared in an orange El Paso County jail jumpsuit today before 4th Judicial District Judge David A. Gilbert.

Carrier is accused of sexually assaulting five children.

Carrier, 30, was a school resource officer at Horace Mann Middle School. He coached in the Police Athletic League and served as a youth adviser in the police Explorer program, where teenagers and young adults don uniforms and shadow officers.

The officer’s attorney, Christopher Decker, told the judge he intends to ask Gilbert to lower Carrier’s $500,000 bond at his next court appearance.
