The Colorado Eagles still have a chance to win the Central Hockey League’s Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup for the third time in their eight seasons of existence.

Jumping out to a 3-0 lead with first-period goals from Scott May, Aaron Schneekloth and Kevin Ulan- ski, the Eagles routed the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 8-1 on Wednesday night at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland to tie the CHL’s championship series at three games apiece.

By the time it was over, the Eagles had set franchise records for most goals and the largest margin of victory in a playoff game.

Adam Chorneyko had three goals and an assist for the Eagles, May two goals and an assist, Ulanski one goal and two assists, and Riley Nelson three assists.

The Eagles will host the deciding Game 7 on Friday night.

Adam Foote, the Avalanche’s recently retired captain, dropped the ceremonial first puck, and Jake Schroeder, the Avalanche’s longtime national anthem singer, performed “The Star-Spangled Banner.” That turned out to be the beginning of a festive night.

Tallman’s save was his fifth of the season. Left fielder Jarod Berggren had three of UNC’s 10 hits and drove in four runs.

The Bears are 24-31, including 1-1 in the tournament. They play NYIT today. Texas-Pan American finished its season 21-31.

CSU picks up transfer.

Colorado State men’s basketball coach Tim Miles said 6-foot-4 guard Daniel Bejarano is transferring to CSU from Arizona.

“Daniel will bring a great skill set to CSU basketball,” Miles said. “He is a tremendous shooter, he plays well without the ball and he competes well. I expect him to be a very productive player in the Mountain West and we are excited to have him joining us.”

Bejarano was a highly ranked recruit at North High School in Phoenix. He played in eight games for Arizona last season and can play three years for CSU after sitting out the 2011-12 season.

Area skiers on development team.

Katie Ryan, the March 2010 Denver Post Youth Excellence in Sports award winner for her victories in the slalom and super-G at the J2 national Junior Olympics in Maine, was named to the U.S. Ski Team’s development squad.

“I’m just really happy and excited it happened this year,” Ryan said of her selection. “It was a sweet moment.”

Ryan, who this year won the junior division (ages 19 and under) super-G at the U.S. alpine national championships at Winter Park only six weeks after breaking her right arm, graduates from Aspen High School on Saturday.

Vail’s Paula Moltzan and Katharine Irwin also were selected to the development team.
